For anyone not sure about the title of this blog:
From 14th March 2010 up till the end of July 2010 the Grimsby Wargames Society considered this site, which is my blog, to be its “Official” website. It is no longer the “Official” website of the Grimsby Wargames Society.
The Grimsby Wargames Society has been in existence for over 35 years. It was originally founded by a group of enthusiastic wargamers. Our Club President, Mike Barnatt, is one of the original founders of the Society. Before the Society bought the premises in the late 70′s, it used facilities in the local area. A little more history can be found here
On the premises we have a soft drinks bar which also serves crisps, chocolate and nuts.
We have 4 games tables upstairs and a large table downstairs for really big games (see photo below).
When you first come to see us on a Monday night you should know that your first 3 VISITS ARE FREE and you do not have to pay any subs till your 4th visit.
The premises are open weekdays from 7pm though some members and other groups that use the facilities occasionally book games and tournaments for weekends. The Grimsby Wargames Society can be found at the premises on Mondays. The Great Grimsby Gaming Group who play Warhammer, Roleplaying Games, Miniatures and various other sci-fi and fantasy games, use the facilities on Tuesdays. The Grimsby Magic Club regularly plays Magic: The Gathering every wednesday. Magic tournaments are held frequently. Star Trek CCG 2nd edition is also played on a wednesday night with the Star Trek CCG 2nd edition playgroup. If you really like Board Games we have a Board Game night every Thursday night from 7pm.
The premises can also be hired out by other groups. For more information on this and our membership fees please view our Membership Information page.
